From the first handpan sound I heard years ago while walking in Park Guell in Barcelona, I fell in love with this instrument.
A few years after hearing its incredible sound, I got my hands on my first handpan, and I've been playing it every day since. This instrument is amazing, and I hope to share my passion for it with you.

The Handpan
The handpan is a relatively new and enchanting musical instrument that has captured the hearts of musicians and enthusiasts around the world.
Its unique, ethereal sound and intuitive design make it a joy to play and listen to, offering a profound musical experience for beginners and seasoned players alike
Origins and Design
The handpan was first created in the early 2000s by PANArt©, a Swiss company founded by Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer. Inspired by the steelpan drum from Trinidad and Tobago, PANArt developed the Hang©, the original handpan. It consists of two hemispherical shells of steel, carefully tuned to produce a range of harmonious notes.
The top shell, called the "ding" side, features a central note surrounded by a circle of tone fields, each producing a different pitch. The bottom shell, known as the "gu" side, often has a resonant hole that adds to the instrument's rich, resonant sound.
Playing the Handpan
One of the most appealing aspects of the handpan is its accessibility. You don't need any prior musical training to start playing; its layout and design encourage intuitive exploration.
Players use their hands and fingers to strike the tone fields, creating beautiful melodies and rhythms. The instrument's design ensures that nearly every note combination sounds pleasing, making it easy to produce harmonious music from the very first session.
